How to Make Your Own Wallpaper

Do you have a special wallpaper idea in mind and wondering where or how to make your own wallpaper design come to life? If so, did you know that in addition to the thousands of wallpaper and mural designs offered by Limitless Walls, you can also create your own custom wallpaper with your own photos, prints, or designs?

It’s true! The process is quick and easy, but the results are stunning! Imagine having one of your favorite photos—whether of a treasured vacation destination, a beloved family pet, a cherished family photo, or a captivating pattern you want to showcase—displayed in jumbo size in your home. Not only does it create a centerpiece to your room, but it also creates a unique, one-of-a-kind conversation starter!

Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to make your own wallpaper from the comfort of home without the need to buy costly specialty wallpaper materials or spend hours watching how-to tutorials.

How to Create a Custom Wallpaper

Step 1: Choose the Perfect Picture

Pre-Order Research

There’s more to this than just choosing your favorite photo. First, consider whether the photo or print in question matches the style of your room and if it’s something you’ll enjoy looking at every day. Remember, it will be displayed on a large scale.

Next, try to choose a photo with the highest possible resolution. When small photos become enlarged, they can sometimes have a pixelated quality to them. Higher-resolution pictures will prevent this from happening.

Part of figuring this all out is deciding what size mural you want. Measure the space and the wall on which you intend to hang your custom piece. Consider using painter’s tape to tape off the size of the custom wallpaper on the wall. If needed, adjust the size until you find dimensions that look just right for your space.

Step 2: Placing the Order

Once you’ve gotten this all figured out, it’s time to upload your picture to the Limitless Walls website. Choose the “Customized Image Upload Wall Mural” option to get started.

The first step is to upload your image. In order to do so, the upload file must be either a .jpg, .png, or.bmp. It is possible to create wallpaper from different file types, but not through the website. Instead, contact us to find the best way to get your image uploaded.

Next, enter your desired dimensions. Note that the website asks for width first, followed by height. If you intend for your mural to cover an entire wall, there is a box to check to extend the mural by 1” extra on each side. This gives you a little extra space to play with during installation, to make sure you can get it exactly right.

To further customize your image, you have the option to flip it (this makes it a mirror image of itself, essentially) and/or convert the picture to black and white. There’s also a box to add further custom edit instructions, but we recommend you contact us to discuss any special customizations, so we can make sure we deliver exactly what you’re expecting.

Finally, choose your desired material. You can choose from five fabric, paper, and canvas options, but most of our customers choose Standard Fabric Peel & Stick or Premium Canvas Peel & Stick. These materials come with the adhesive already applied, making the installation process a breeze.

Once you’ve completed this final step, simply add the item to your cart, and complete the checkout process.

Step 3: Installation

Once your custom wallpaper arrives, it’s time to hang it in its place of honor in your home. Our installation process is designed to be mess-free, hassle-free, and headache-free. Simply peel the backing from the wallpaper and stick it in its desired spot on the wall.

Didn’t get it quite right? No worries. Our products can be easily removed and reapplied multiple times, without losing their stickiness or damaging your walls. So go ahead and move the print around until it’s perfect!

Now that you know how to create a wallpaper, what are you waiting for? Let Limitless Walls bring your design dreams to life today!
